Make your life easy with Alexa!

I’m building my smart Room with Amazon Alexa. I already purchased few Alexa devices, Alexa Eco Show 10, Eco Show 5 and Eco Dot 3rd Gen. Combined with all 3, I built my smart room.

The day start with telling me latest weather updates and traffic on my route.

Then, schedule my calendar, tells me all my meeting schedule

Control my devices around me, if I wanted turn on my AC I would say, Alexa, turn on AC and Alexa turn it on for me. Also, if I say Alexa, turn on TV, it turns on and off TV. Also Anything connected to power, can be turned in to a smart device.

When it’s dark in the evening, Alexa turns on lights in my room and at mid night around 11.59pm Alexa turn off the lights.

Also, if it’s hot in the room, Alexa able to turn on and off A/C and Fan for me.

Like wise, I am able to do so many things with my Eco and smart devices. If you are not a ‘Smart guy’ just talk to me, I can turn your home or room to a smart home!

Xfinity Comcast email sync error with Outlook!

If you are using an Xfinity Comcast mailbox configured to Outlook or any other email client and recently started to giving errors, try this first!

Enable/Disable Third-Party Client Access to Comcast Email

Effective September 16, 2020, Comcast.net email users will see an added security checkbox in their Xfinity Connect email settings allowing them to enable/disable access to third-party email clients. Allowing access by third-party email clients (e.g., Outlook, Google, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, etc.), could expose the customer’s Xfinity ID and password to fraud and other risks, including the potential for external programs to read, download and delete emails on the customer’s behalf.

Flickery webcam

What would you do if your web cam started playing with you?

So annoying right? I got a tech support request from a client from USA, with a malfunctioning integrated web cam attached to a Lenovo laptop.  Here it is the summary:

Incident – Web cam not working, flickering video, freezing on video conferencing apps such as Skype and Zoom

Symptoms – Camera in used indicator constantly blinking, not steady

Platform – Intel Core i5 4th Gen, 8GB RAM, Integrated graphics, 256SSD Windows 10 64Bit

Users troubleshooting steps – Trying to make adjustments from the Windows 10 camera app.

Check the device manager and check whether everything is updated.

If so, simply uninstall the integrated camera driver and reinstall the basic drivers. Problem solved!

Mac Remote Desktop?

In new Mac OS releases there is an option you to convenient screen share between your MacOS devices. I just tested out today. If you are an iMac, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air or Mac Mini user, definitely you can enjoy this facility. You don’t have to use other third party remote desktop tools such as TeamViewer, LogMeIn or other. It’s unlimited and completely free in between MacOS users.

But keep in mind, you need a one of the latest releases of MacOS updates such as Big Sur, Catalina, Mojave or High Sierra.

Here are the steps from apple support forum :

Allow Remote Desktop to access your Mac

Use Remote Management in Sharing preferences to allow others to access your computer using Remote Desktop.

  1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Sharing, then select the Remote Management checkbox. If prompted, select the tasks remote users are permitted to perform. If you’re not prompted, click Options to select tasks.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Select “All users” to let anyone with a user account on your Mac to share your screen.
    • Select “Only these users,” click the Add button +, then select the users who can share your Mac.
  3. Click Computer Settings, then select options for your Mac. If people connect using a VNC viewer, you need to set a password.
